In Germany, witches were said to congregate atop the Brocken, the highest peak in the Harz Mountains. On Halloween Night, The Devil would summon them by causing the mark on their skin to itch furiously. They would fly to the mountaintop--frequently on a broomstick--and engage in wild orgies of Sapphic sex and violence, often culminating in a human sacrifice, with the victim's entrails being used to divine the coven's fortunes for the coming year.

Satan himself would appear at these Sabbats, frequently in the form of a Goat, and would enjoy sexual congress with the coven members. They would kiss his buttocks in greeting, and profane themselves before altars adorned with inverted crosses.

Very nasty stuff, indeed.
